Elliott BROOD and Great Lake Swimmers Collaborate on Classic Roots-Rock Covers with proceeds going towards MusiCounts!
Elliott BROOD and Great Lake Swimmers have crossed paths many times over the last decade or so, beginning in the early 2000's with both bands releasing records on the Toronto indie label, (weewerk). More recently, the bands toured together across Newfoundland & Labrador, and by way of an end-of-the-night encore, formed a supergroup onstage to perform a couple of cover songs to close out the concerts. The songs they played were 'End Of The Line' by The Traveling Wilburys
and 'One Hundred Years From Now' by The Byrds, whose roots-rock sounds both bands readily identify with. After the successful, high-energy (and fun!) tour, the band members got together and decided to record the songs for posterity at Toronto's Revolution Recording studios, directly to Revolution's glorious vintage Studer 2" tape machine. What you'll hear here is the result of those sessions. The bands have also just added additional tour dates together for December 2016, in Ottawa (NAC) and London, Ontario (Aeolian Hall). We think you'll feel the energy and true spirit of collaboration in their takes on these classic songs!
